A few weeks ago, along with other councillors, I met with the Chief Constable of Essex to express our concerns about local policing.  He made it clear that there would be more officers in the local neighbourhood teams, but that all crime investigation and policy decisions would be made in Braintree, and that response teams would come from Dunmow. I am concerned that police operating from out of the town may not foster the sort of community policing that Saffron Walden has benefited from to date.
